The hot & humid summer of 2026

2026 will NOT go down in the books as our best year at LavenderBlu Farms...

We got off to a slow start with our tomotoes and veggies, and in fact never got peas and a few other things planted. Our melons were mostly devastated by critters (we're thinking our slogan should be, "LavenderBlu Farms, feeding the wildlife since 2022!"), and the ones that survived haven't been "up to snuff" for us and we've brought few to market. And as I write this, one of our mowers has been out of commission for a couple of weeks and it's everything we can do to stay on top of keeping our field tidy and under control with our other mower--with the rain we've had this summer, you can practically hear the grass growing!

We began the year certain that we'd throw open the gates to u-pickers this summer, but alas! we've had construction delays and the blueberries and lavender didn't really care if we had a pavilion and driveway or not. But we did have our first real season of blueberries and another stellar season of multiple lavender blooms, and it looks like we'll break ground on the pavilion in the fall. So u-pick for 2027 is on!

But one thing has been a huge hit this year: Lori's flowers. Her new beds are teeming with sunflowers, black-eyed susans, zinnias, cosmos, celosia, gomphrena, mums, hydrangaes, and more--and her arrangements have become a hit at the Marigold market. Hmm, maybe more flowers for 2027?
